South Korea’s Kurly Inc., the operator of grocery delivery service Market Kurly, made inroads into Singapore with an aim to expand its business into Southeast Asia.

Kurly said on Thursday it has started selling foods at RedMart, Singapore’s largest online grocery platform that provides more than 120,000 items.

The South Korean unicorn startup launched the Market Kurly brand store within RedMart, owned by Southeast Asia’s e-commerce giant Lazada, to sell 44 ready-to-eat frozen foods including a noodle soup Jeonju Veteran Kalguksu and others it developed with famous South Korean restaurants and chefs.

Kurly also showcased western foods such as truffle cream gnocchi, considering the city-state’s multinational food culture.

“I am delighted to introduce excellent K-food with the name of Kurly to Singapore where people are greatly interested in gourmet,” said Kurly CEO Sophie Kim.

The move came as the world’s demand for South Korean foods has been growing along with the sustained global fever over the country’s entertainment content.

Kurly plans to raise export volume and items, mulling sales of household goods, especially its own brand items there.

The e-commerce operator aims to expand its business in other Southeast Asian countries from Singapore.
